NEWS: Floyd Mayweather Jr. To Fight Twice In 2013: May 4 & September 14

Just as expected, the major news concerning Floyd Mayweather Jr. are in: Floyd plans on two fights on 2013!

According to, Leonard Ellerbe stated that Mayweather Jr. will fight on May 4th as well as September 14th of next year, giving him just under half a year in-between for recovery and training.

This is indeed huge news, and what’s more unusual, is that Floyd is actually committing to fighting more than once a year. So the question is, who will he be facing on the two proposed dates?

I think that it is safe to say that he will pick one of the discussed fighters from my previous article:

The main question that will undoubtedly start pouring in starting today and ending, never, is will Mayweather Jr. and Pacquiao try to make their fight finally come to reality in September of next year?

There is certainly enough time for the promotion of the fight, and now that Pacquiao had stated that he is willing to play by Floyd’s rules in order to make the fight happen, maybe 2013 is going to be one of the bigger years in boxing history. Now all is left for both champions, is to win their next fights.

Truth be told, I am a little worried about the outcome of Pacquiao vs. Marquez 4. I guess worried is not necessarily the right word to use, anxious would be better. Some believe that Pacquiao will once again win his fight against Marquez, while others hope that Dinamita could pull off a win this time.

Call me crazy, but I have a feeling that unless Pacquiao performs much better than he did last time, he might end up on the canvas this time around. We know and have seen Marquez land numerous clean shots again Pacman, and they looked like that did the expected damage. This time, with an evident muscle mass gain, Marquez’s shots should do considerably more damage, thus taking them in a form of dozens of counter-shots could prove to be costly for Pacquiao.

With a victory against Marquez, Manny can once again face the cameras and call out Mayweather Jr., and this time, Floyd must respond, as he has a date in 2013 with an opponent yet to fill it.
