Evander Holyfield: How Being Robbed In The Ring Helped Him Make Millions

During the 1984 Olympics boxing star Evander Holyfield was cheated out of the gold medal.  With 3 big KOs he made it to the semi-finals where he face Kevin Barry of New Zealand.

It was during the second round of the semi-final that Holyfield was disqualified. Referee Gligorije Novicic may have called for a “break” right as Holyfield was landing a hook as part of a combo, that hook floored Barry. Barry was not able to continue and Evander was disqualified.

After the fight the referee raised Barry’s hand, Barry then walked over to Holyfield and raised his hand, showing the world who really won. In fact during the gold medal ceremony, Anton Josipovic of Yugoslavia who won the gold, pulled Holyfield to the top of the podium to join him during the ceremony.

Now 28 year later Holyfield talks about being cheated out of that gold medal.
