Gennady Golovkin has made a very strong statement as far as his boxing debut in the USA goes. Now that he is being looked at as not only a solid fighter, but also a formidable opponent for the bigger names, the world is his oyster, and his path to possibly becoming a big name fighter himself can now begin.
There is now an entire spectrum of fighter and fights that he can request, but the question is, who will he get next? Will his fame end up being short lived, or will Gennady keep winning until he is the one deciding whom he should accept as a challenger.
Thus far, according to a piece by Dan Rafael, Golovkin is very interested in possibly facing the winner of Sergio Martinez vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
“For the fight on Sept. 15 between Chavez Jr. and Martinez, I think it’s a 50-50 fight. Sergio has better skills, but Chavez Jr. is younger and seems to be getting stronger with each fight. I look forward to viewing the Chavez Jr.-Martinez fight,” stated Golovkin.
I know that he will be present for the fight in Las Vegas, watching and hoping to learn something about both fighters, and hopefully get some business done while there.
What do you think, who would be a more exciting fight against, Martinez or Chavez Jr.?
