Liam Neeson: “I would pay any amount of money to be at that fight!”

There are a ton of Hollywood stars as well as other famous people out there, who are big fans of the sport of boxing. It is not unusual for the ring announcer to inform the crowd of who out of the famous individuals is attending the fight. Some like it because it is entertaining, while others have more in-depth understanding of the sport and the art form that it truly is.

In a recent ESPN piece, Liam Neeson admitted that he is a huge fan of boxing, and had even tried becoming a serious boxer himself. When the interviewer asked whether Neeson follows boxing nowadays, Liam admitted that he indeed was still on top of things, and of course mentioned Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.:

“Pacquiao is still amazing. He’s getting a little bit older, but in the championship rounds from 9 to 12 he just gets stronger and stronger and stronger. That’s the sign of a great champion. I think Floyd Mayweather Jr. is terrific. I think he’s scared of Pacquaio, though. I don’t think it’s about money. I don’t mean he is scared, like terrified of his life, but I think he thinks he can see in Pacquiao someone that could beat him,” said Neeson.

Just like so many other boxing fans, Neeson agrees that Mayweather Jr. is probably scared of losing to Pacquiao, despite the fact that in reality, there are just as many people that assume just the opposite. Over the years there has been so much drama with the two boxing superstars, that the possible truth is no longer relevant. The fight is what matters, as after all this time; no excuse from either man would get any attention of belief.

When Liam was asked what he would do if he had heard that the fight was finally announced, he said: “Oh, I would absolutely flip my seat. I would pay any amount of money to be at that fight.”

And you wouldn’t be the only one willing to break the piggy bank for this fight if it ever happens, Mr. Neeson.
