Oleg Maskaev Has A Comeback Fight Scheduled For December 30th in Moscow

The rumors of his comeback started over a year ago, but then they slowly diminished until there was no more news coming surfacing about him or his future boxing fans. Apparently, his plans of coming back into boxing have never faded, and Oleg Maskaev (36-7-0) has now been scheduled for his first comeback fight on the 30th of December in Moscow, Russia.

In his last fight in 2009, Maskaev suffered a loss against Nagy Aguilera via a first round TKO, and has not been back in the ring ever since.

“I would really like to have a good fight in Moscow,” said Maskaev in a brief statement.

It’s hard to say whether Maskaev is trying to cash a few more paychecks or truly believes that he could till make a splash in the heavyweight division, but either way at the age of 43, time and physiology are not on his side.

I like Maskaev and his ring presence. His heart and spirit are not in question, and he does try to put on an entertaining performance for the fans. Despite the fact that his opponent has not yet been announced, I am assuming that Oleg will try to fight his way back to a more lucrative bout, maybe even another fight against his former foe Hasim Rahman.
