Oscar De La Hoya Picks Guerrero & Don King Picks Mayweather Jr., Who Do You Pick?
March 8, 2013 Boxing History

Ever since Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Robert Guerrero got announced, surprisingly more and more people out there pick Guerrero to win the fight. Don’t get me wrong, there are still colossally more people picking Floyd to mop the floor with Guerrero than the other way around, but the fact that Guerrero is getting so much credit makes the fight much more exciting.

Don King for one picked Mayweather Jr. to have no trouble handling Guerrero:

“I think it’s going to be a good fight. Mayweather is the best fighter in the world today, you know, and I think he’s going to do a tremendous job, you know, as he usually does,” stated King.

Of course most of the people will agree with King, and based on any and all fact about this match-up, you would be right to make the same pick as well. There is nothing in this fight that is going again Mayweather Jr., even the size difference will should not be of any issue for Floyd.

Oscar De La Hoya on the other hand, is confident that Guerrero will emerge the winner.

“It’s going to be a tough fight. It’s going to be a physical fight, which Robert is going to make it. And we have to wait and see if Father Time is maybe catching up, who knows? I’m going to go with Guerrero by decision,” proclaimed Oscar.

I think that De La Hoya is making a risky decision picking Guerrero, but I am sure that he knows that well enough himself. Mayweather Jr.’s stamina is simply perfect, while in his last fight against Aydin, Guerrero displayed lack of it for half of the fight.

In his bought against Aydin, Guerrero was able to fight off of a clinch, or brawl toe-to-toe while throwing relatively slow shots. This will not be possible with Floyd, thus standing in one place and firing at a stationary target is out of question. In order to put up a fight, Guerrero will have to keep moving throughout the entire fight, which is not an easy task for more boxers.

Either way I think that people are starting to become more and more interested in this match-up, and hopefully they will bring us the entertainment they both promise!

Who do you pick?
