UFC133: Evans vs Ortiz Rematch

Rashad Evans and Tito Ortiz last met at UFC 73 in July 2007 where they fought to a draw with Ortiz penalized a point in the 2nd round for grabbing the cage on takedowns. Tito Ortiz last fought at UFC 132, when he beat Ryan Bader by guillotine choke in the first round. The victory over Bader was Ortiz’s first in the UFC in nearly five years. Despite his poor recent performances, Tito Ortiz remains a marquee attraction for the UFC.

Ortiz holds wins over Forrest Griffin, Vitor Belfort, Brazilian legend Wanderlei Silva and a high profile within the sport having participated in many of the organizations most lucrative PPV cards as a headline act. His fight with Evans at UFC 133 will be his 25th in the UFC, a new record, as he goes past Randy Couture (on 24) and Matt Hughes (also on 24).

Evans last entered the octagon at UFC 114 where he managed to outpoint rival Quinton “Rampage” Jackson by unanimous decision at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Evans won a junior college national championship and then went on to wrestle at Michigan State. Evans entered the UFC back in 2005, winning the second season of “The Ultimate Fighter” reality series. He went on to win the light heavyweight belt against Forrest Griffin. Based at Imperial Athletics in Florida, Rashad Evans holds wins over Chuck Liddell, Michael Bisping and Thiago Silva.

UFC 133 “Evans vs. Ortiz 2” also includes a welterweight showdown between Dennis Hallman and Brian Ebersole, a middleweight matchup between Jorge Rivera and Constantinos Philippou and a welterweight contest between Canadian Rory MacDonald and Mike Pyle of Xtreme Couture MMA. The card’s co-headliner is Vitor Belfort  up against Yoshihiro Akiyama.
