Wladimir Klitschko vs. Alexander Povetkin On October 5th in Moscow, Russia

Now that Alexander Povetkin has knocked out Andrzej Wawrzyk, his bout against Wladimir Klitschko is secured. As a matter of fact, via numerous reports as well as Boxrec.com, the fight has been scheduled for October 5th of this year at the Olympiyskiy (Olympic) stadium in Moscow, Russia.

This is going to be the biggest fight in Povetkin’s career  If he is able to pull of a victory, he will instantly become the center of attention, being targeted for most financially healthy fights. Dethroning one of the most dominant heavyweight boxers in our time is would be an achievement of a lifetime, and there are a lot of Russian boxing fans who believe that this will be the case come fight night.

While I can see why Povetkin is well respected, and I enjoy watching him fight, I do not think that his style will be effective again Wladimir and his thundering jab. Aggression used to work against him, but Wlad has learned a lot since, and uses his jab in the most masterful way I have ever seen a heavyweight boxer use this punch.

This will be one of the more exciting match-ups of the heavyweight division in a very long time, and I am looking forward to this fight. This being said, I am expecting roadblocks along the way, but hoping that the money being pumped into this fight will fix everything and push the fight through.
