Wladimir Klitschko vs. Alexander Povetkin Possibly In March?

Before I get to the main point of this piece, I would like to state that I was immensely impressed with the heart that Mariusz Wach showed during his fight against Wladimir Klitschko. He proved that boxing was in his blood and that he was a warrior as many of his fans believe him to be.

Having said all that, Wladimir Klitschko not only dominated the bigger Wach, but was able to do it without having to defend at all. Wach’s plans, whatever they may have been, proved to be absolutely useless, as he was unable to do anything of value in the fight. Wladimir was faster, stronger, and clearly more experienced than Wach, and that is a very big problem, and not only for Wach, but also for Wladimir as well.

Slowly but surely, Wlad is running out, or has already run out to be exact, of formidable opposition. This is a problem because instead of building up his name and resume, he will be padding it with meaningless names. So who will he be fighting next?

“Leaders of WBA confirmed to us that we have time until July to arrange a fight with WBA regular champion Alexander Povetkin. Maybe we will decide to meet with him before, for example, in March, but most likely we will choose another opponent. We try to choose the most powerful opponent for Wladimir, which showed in his fight with Wach, who collected a large number of spectators, both in the arena and on television. This once again proves that the battle with the big fighters arouse great interest,” stated Wladimir’s manager Bernd Boente.

Wlad confirmed this by saying:

“I have a lot of commitments because I own a few titles. It is too early to talk about the next opponent. Maybe it will be Alexander Povetkin, and maybe someone else. I don’t know yet.”

Many have been asking for a fight against Povetkin, and if they can get the fight done, people might regain some interest in the heavyweight division as well as Wladimir Klitschko. Povetkin has been mentioned as a possible opponent against Wlad numerous times, and now many boxing fans see Alexander as the only formidable opponent for Wlad.
